# Site Work and Excavation on Maui

The site prep, excavation, grading and trenching behind our own concrete, plumbing, electrical and building work.

## Site work for the projects we build

Crescent Homes Maui does the site work for the projects and trades we perform on Maui: site prep, excavation, grading, trenching and drainage for foundations, slabs, driveways, concrete walls, plumbing and utilities. Our own crews do it. We bring 35 years in the business and thousands of single-family homes and multi-family units built.

On Maui, excavation is more than digging. Slope, rainfall and soil conditions all affect the work. Steep slopes, unstable soil and poor drainage can lead to erosion, foundation problems or water getting where it should not.

## What we do

- **Site evaluation.** Slope, drainage, soil stability and environmental impact, looked at before we dig.
- **Land clearing.** We clear what is necessary and keep native foliage where possible.
- **Excavation.** For the foundations, slabs, concrete walls and utilities we build.
- **Grading.** Rough and finish grading, set to the slope and layout of the property. Grading includes compacting the soil before a foundation goes in.
- **Trenching.** For water, electric and drainage, based on soil class and the utility layout.
- **Drainage.** Slopes and contours that move water away from structures.
- **Underground utilities.** Water supply, sewer and electrical.
- **Demolition.** Selective demolition, total demolition and site clearing. Debris is recycled where possible.

## How a job runs with us

- **1. Site evaluation and plan review.** We go through your plans and inspect the land. We look for slope, soil class, erosion risk and how water moves across the site.
- **2. Site work plan.** You get a step-by-step proposal. It covers clearing, trenching, grading and drainage measures, set to your location and its permitting requirements.
- **3. The work.** We do the site work with the right equipment and safety protocols, and try to keep disruption down.

We manage permitting and inspections. We obtain the necessary permits before grading or demolition begins.

## Residential and commercial

Site work comes with the job when we pour your slab or driveway, build your concrete wall, run your water or sewer line, or build your home. Small jobs are welcome, and so are full projects.

On a commercial job we perform concrete, plumbing and electrical, with the excavation, grading and trenching that work needs.

## Why one contractor for several trades matters

Site work is the first step on a job. What comes next depends on it. The pad has to be right for the foundation. The trenches have to be right for the plumber and the electrician.

Our own crews do the excavation, grading, concrete, retaining walls, plumbing and electrical. The crew that grades the pad works for the same company that pours the slab. The trench is dug by the same company that lays the water line or the conduit in it.

## Questions we get

### What do you look at before you dig?

Slope, drainage, soil stability and environmental impact. On the plan review we also look at soil class, erosion risk and how water moves across the site.

### Do you do demolition?

Yes. Selective demolition, total demolition and site clearing. We handle the permits and manage the debris, recycling materials when possible.

### Do you install underground utilities?

Yes. Water supply, sewer and electrical. We assess the site, plan the layout with you, then excavate and install.
